Quick start guide

How to make your cellular station (MetroPoint) using Metrogadget:

  1. Buy the Metrogadget GSM device:
    - Register at MetroNet - just fill in your login, password and e-mail address. The activation code will be sent to your e-mail. Enter the activation code and press "Activate", and your MetroNet account will be activated.
    - Order Metrogadget under the "MetroPoint" section in your MetroNet account. Please specify the correct postal address and phone number for your Metrogadget to be delivered.

  2. After you receive Metrogadget:
    - Insert the SIM-card from your cellular provider into Metrogadget. The phone number associated with this SIM-card is your MetroPoint phone number.
    - Connect Metrogadget to your computer via USB cable.
    - Insert the software disc into the CD drive.
    - MetroPoint Setup will begin automatically.

  3. After the MetroPoint installation, the Configuration Wizard will begin to help you configure MetroPoint:
    - First step: Select your language.
    - Next: Fill in your login and password to be authorized at MetroNet.
    - Next step: Metrogadget will be initialized. Be sure that Metrogadget is connected to your PC.
    - Next: Add your regular phone number(s) you'll be using to call your cellular station (MetroPoint). Country and regional phone codes are required. You can also add phone numbers of your relatives, friends and employees to allow them make calls via your MetroPoint.
    - Final Step: set up call forwarding for Skype and SIP calls to your mobile when you're away from your computer. If you don’t use Skype and SIP, skip this step.

  4. Try to make a test call: dial your MetroPoint phone number and after connecting, dial the phone number of the party you are trying to reach starting with the country code and ending with the “#” key. If you completed all the steps above correctly, your test call should be successful.

  5. You can add your friends to your MetroPoint Contact List under the "Contact List" section of your account page. You can add phone numbers (country and regional phone codes are required) as well as Skype, GTalk, MSN, AIM, SIP contacts. Every contact should be associated with speed-dial number. You can use the speed-dial numbers to simplify the process of calling: dial your MetroPoint phone number and after connecting dial speed-dial number associated with the contact you wish to call. Press "#" at the end.

    You can also import contacts from Skype and Outlook. Use the "Import contacts" link from your "MetroPoint Contact List".

 

How to make your cellular station (MetroPoint) using a second cellular phone:

  1. Prepare two cellular phones:
    - The first phone is your regular phone for making and receiving mobile calls.
    - Second phone is the MetroPoint phone. It will be connected to your computer via Bluetooth.

    Turn on the Bluetooth function on your compuer and the MetroPoint phone.
    Place the MetroPoint phone approximately 1 - 3 meters from your computer in an area with good GSM-signal reception.

  2. Click "Check your hardware" to make sure that the software you are going to install (MetroPoint Client) will work properly on your computer.

    If your Bluetooth device isn’t supported please visit our forum.

  3. Download and setup BlueSoleil, the software for Bluetooth. Please note: It’s a trial version! Refer to step 11 to find out how to activate BlueSoleil .

    Skip this step if Bluesoleil 6.4.x (and higher) or Widcomm 5.1.0.1700 - 5.1.0.33xx has already been installed on your computer.

    After installation please check if your cellular phone is visible under Bluetooth Places.

  4. Download and setup the MetroPoint Client on your computer. If you have any problems, please read the User guide.

  5. After restarting your computer, the MetroPoint Wizard will start up. At step 1, simply fill in your login, password and e-mail address to register at MetroNet.

  6. Then select the MetroPoint phone from the list of Bluetooth devices. This cellular phone will be associated with your cellular station (MetroPoint).

  7. Next: Add your regular phone number(s) you'll be using to call your cellular station (MetroPoint). Country and regional phone codes are required. You can also add phone numbers of your relatives, friends and employees to allow them make calls via your MetroPoint.

  8. Final Step: set up call forwarding for Skype and SIP calls to your mobile when you're away from your computer. If you don’t use Skype and SIP, skip this step.

  9. Try to make a test call: dial your MetroPoint phone number and after connecting, dial the phone number of the party you are trying to reach starting with the country code and ending with the “#” key. If you completed all the steps above correctly, your test call should be successful.

    If your MetroPoint phone immediately drops an incoming call, select "Use additional connection, if MetroPoint phone drops the call" under the "Mobile devices" section of the "Options" menu.

    Note that you are using a trial version of the BlueSoleil software, so the duration of the call is limited to one minute. To make another test call, activate Bluetooth in the system tray and restart the MetroPoint Client.

  10. You can add your friends to your MetroPoint Contact List under the "Contact List" section of your account page. You can add phone numbers (country and regional phone codes are required) as well as Skype, GTalk, MSN, AIM, SIP contacts. Every contact should be associated with speed-dial number. You can use the speed-dial numbers to simplify the process of calling: dial your MetroPoint phone number and after connecting dial speed-dial number associated with the contact you wish to call. Press "#" at the end.

    You can also import contacts from Skype and Outlook. Use the "Import contacts" link from your "MetroPoint Contact List".

  11. The last step is to activate Bluesoleil on your computer. Please login and add 10 USD to your balance under the “Add funds” section. You can fully use these funds for calls to landline and mobile numbers according to our current "Rates". No fee for BlueSoleil activation! You can get the Bluesoleil activation code in the “Account summary” section of your account page.

    You can also purchase the activation code at http://www.bluesoleil.com.

Note:
  • You can add your MetroPoint phone number to any contact in your cellular phonebook to be able to make a call to your contacts just by pressing the “Call” button.

    For example, if your MetroPoint phone number is “+14152200555” and your friend’s contact is associated with speed-dial number "25” in your MetroPoint Contact List, save the phone number in your cellular phonebook as “+14152200555p25#” ("p" means "pause").

    For example, if your MetroPoint phone number is “+14152200555” and your friend’s phone number is “+49205552200” save the phone number in your cellular phonebook as “+14152200555p49205552200#”.

  • Some phones require authorization with a pin-code. You can retrieve your pin-code under the "User Information" section on the "My Account" page.
